League Rules

There are several general types of leagues.  Each general type has rule variations, such as scoring system, starting lineup requirements, etc., so read the rules carefully.  If you have any questions, contact the commissioner. (commissioner@phenomsff.com)

q       Draft Leagues – Standard 10, 12, and 14 team leagues with a serpentine style draft to initially allocate players.  Rule variables include flex/no flex starting lineups, basic or bonus scoring, IDP leagues, and varying entry fees.  Some draft leagues are “Live”, with a timer of 2 minutes per pick, and typically take three hours to complete.  “Slow” draft leagues have a timer of 18 hours, and typically take two to three weeks to complete.

q       Auction Leagues – Standard 10, 12, and 14 team leagues with an auction to initially allocate players.  Auctions are conducted on www.fantasyauctioneer.com and typically take three hours or less to complete.  New in 2008 are “SLOW” auctions done over a 2 or 3 week time period.  Rule variables include flex/no flex starting lineups, basic or bonus scoring, and varying entry fees.

q       Contract Cap Leagues – 12 team leagues that carry over players from year to year.  Owners determine the length of player contracts, within the team contract cap.  Initial roster allocation is via Draft or Auction.  The Rookie Draft and Free Agent Auction re-allocates players in the off-season.  Rule variables include flex/no flex starting lineups, basic or bonus scoring, and varying entry fees.

q       Omega Leagues – Omega Leagues are 72 team leagues, which are broken into six leagues of 12.  Teams play each team in their league once in weeks 1 to 11, and then the top 4 teams advance to the 24 team Championship Bracket.  The top eight seeds get first round byes and are guaranteed prize money.  The Championship Bracket is played head to head until one team wins it all in week 16.

q       Draft-n-Go Leagues (or Auction-n-Go) – 10, 12, 14 team leagues with no transactions and no starting lineups to submit.  Initial roster allocation is done via draft or auction, and then the rosters are frozen.  The starting lineup is the highest scoring players for the week.  This format is ideal for owners in multiple leagues that don’t have the time to manage several teams during the season.
