Q: When will my league website on myfantasyleague.com be setup?

A: The league must be filled and the draft date must be within 10 days before the league will be setup on myfantasyleague.com. I don't want the draft order to be randomized until the league is full. 99% of the time it will be setup at least 24 hours prior to the draft/auction. (page top)

Q: How will I find out about my league’s website on myfantasyleague.com?

A: You will receive an email containing the web address and your password as soon as your league is setup. However, some email users on AOL and Yahoo may have the email blocked if they are using heavy junk email blockers or filters. Therefore, I will send an email to league members when I have completed setting up the website. If you don’t receive an email with the address and your password within a few hours, email me and I’ll send it to you. It is helpful to make sure the email address commissioner@phenomsff.com is not blocked by your spam filters. (page top)

Q: How is the draft order determined and randomized?

A: There are two randomizing steps I use when setting up a league. The first is to randomize the order in which the franchises are setup on the league site. The second is to randomize the draft order directly on the myfantasyleague.com site. (page top)

Q: Can I trade draft picks?

A: Yes, you can trade draft picks prior to and during the draft in any league that allows trading. (page top)

Q: How do I drop a league that I signed up for?

A: Under the "Leagues" or "My Account" menus, click on the "My Leagues" sub-menu. For each league you have joined, a "Drop League" button will appear if you are eligible to drop the league. If a "Drop League" button does not appear, that is because the league is full and setup and you cannot drop out of the league. (page top)

Q: What if my league doesn't fill up?

A: If your league doesn't fill, you can drop the league and request a withdraw or apply the funds in your Phenoms FF Account towards the entry fees of another league. (page top)

Q: How do I form a private league with my friends?

A: Email me with your league parameters request and a list of owners. I'll setup the league and keep it closed to the public, while entering your group of owners. If you don't have quite enough owners, I'll open the league to the public to fill the remaining spots. (page top)

Q: Can I request a specific league type?

A: Absolutely! Just email me and I'll setup the league type you are looking for. I can't guarantee that it will fill, but I'll do my best. Some league parameters are simply more popular than others. (page top)

Q: How do I pay my entry fees? What methods of payment are accepted?

A: There are two methods to deposit funds to your Phenoms FF account: Check or PayPal. PayPal allows you to pay via AMEX, VISA, MC, Discover, or directly from your bank account. All financial information is handled securely through PayPal, with none of your financial information being stored or processed on the Phenoms FF website. Click the "Cashier" link to make your deposit. (page top)

Q: Are there any additional league fees beyond the entry fees?

A: There are no fees beyond the initial entry fee. The exception is the "League Deposit" required for Keeper Leagues. (page top)

Q: Why is a "Deposit" required for Keeper Leagues?

A: Keeper Leagues require a "Deposit" equal to one year's worth of entry fees, to be paid when you initially join the Keeper League. To ensure the viability of the league from year to year, this deposit money may be used to incentivize a new owner should you decide not to return to the league. When your team is sold to a new owner, your Deposit will be used to cover the difference between what the new owner is willing to pay for the team and the league entry fee. You'll be refunded the difference. For example, Keeper League A has an entry fee of $50 and thus a Deposit of $50. After 3 years, you decide to drop out. Your team is sold to a new owner for $40. (He'll also have to pay a $50 Deposit) $10 of your Deposit will be put towards the entry fees for the upcoming year to ensure a full prize pool. $40 will be refunded to you. (page top)

Q: Why is it illegal to enter from my state?

A: Each state has different laws regarding contests and gambling. While most states allow contests of skill such as Fantasy Football, some do not. The designated primary owner must be from an allowed state or province. (page top)

Q: How do you handle co-owners?

A: Each entry must designate a primary owner. This owner is legally responsible for the entry fees and prize money. You may work out any personal agreement between co-owners regarding team management, entry fees, and prize money. It is not a problem for all co-owners to receive email from the league website and the commissioner. (page top)

Q: What are the tax implications of prize winnings?

A: Winnings of $600 or more in a calendar year must be reported to the IRS by Phenoms FF, regardless of the entry fees you've paid. Your winnings will be reported via a 1099-MISC. You must supply your SSN or TIN in order to receive your winnings if you have $600 or more for the calender year. Consult a tax account for information regarding the possibility of writing off entry fees against your winnings. While US Residents will not have any money withheld from their winnings, Non-US Residents are subject to 30% withholding. Non-US Residents must obtain a US Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) via form W-7. You must then file a US tax return, upon which you may be able to recover some or all of the withholdings. Consult a tax accountant in your country for more information. (page top)
