Blind Bidding Waivers

Some Phenoms FF Leagues use Blind Bidding (BB) waivers to process weekly free agent pickups. The BB process allows for owners to pickup and drop multiple players and uses "conditional" bids. The following information will help you understand the process of placing Blind Bids properly.

#1 shows you what a proper set of conditional bids looks like. In this example, the owner is attempting to drop Michael Bush and acquire a WR. He has input 3 options at WR. The order is sorted in the priority that the owner wishes to acquire one of these WRs. This is one "Round" of bids. These "Rounds" are NOT like rounds of a draft. All "Rounds" will be processed simulatenously - not in order. #2 allows you to choose a particular round to edit or see it. When you click "Save Bids" (#8), a new round is automatically created.

Creating a bid is fairly simple. First, select a player from the list. (#3) Enter your bid amount in #4. Select a player to drop in #5. Click "Add to List" (#6). If you wish to have a "backup plan" in case you don't get the first player you want, add another player. This is the "conditional" aspect of the bidding. I recommend dropping the same player, like is shown in #1. If you have multiple players to drop, create a new round for each one of them. Finally, make sure your list is sorted by using #7 and press "Save Bids" (#8)

It is imporant to understand how the system processes the bids. The system first looks for the highest bid amount along the top line of each round submitted. It awards that player to that team, and then eliminates that player from everyone's bid list. It will also eliminate the rest of that round for the winning team. Then, it looks for the new highest bid amount along the top line of each round submitted and awards that player, etc. The key here is that it only looks along the top line of each bid round. If you bid $10 on the top guy and $20 on the next guy in the same round, it won't see the $20 until you miss out on the $10 guy. If you get the $10 guy, your $20 bid will discarded. You can only win 1 player per bidding round you submit.

The following example helps to illustrate the process:

Step 1: Team B gets Player J for $15. Subsequently, Team B's bid of $15 on Player I and Team A's bid of $10 on Player J are discarded.

Step 2: Team A gets Player I for $10. Subsequently, Team A's bid of $10 on Player K is discarded.

Step 3: Team A gets Player R for $8. Subsequently, Team A's round 2 bids of $8 on Players S, T, U are discarded.

Step 4: Team A gets Player S for $8. Subsequently, Team A's round 3 bids of $8 on Players T and U as well as Team B's bid of $7 on Player S are discarded.

Step 5: Team B gets Player X for $7. Subsequently, Team B's bids of $7 on Players Y and Z are discarded.
